Academics

Educate a woman and you educate a family; Educate many women and you educate a community, a society and, ultimately, a nation. There is no better tool for development than the education — and empowerment — of women.

Founded in 1999, the Mrs. Helena Kaushik Women's (Post-Graduate) College is committed to educating women in a country where only 1.5% of women have achieved a college degree as of 2004. This private, non-profit college in rural India stands out as an extraordinary beacon of hope and promise, providing higher education for women where no such opportunity existed in the area before.

In its founding year, this fully accredited college enrolled 35 students from 19 neighboring villages and hamlets. By 2009, the college had grown to more than 450 women from 65 local communities, and as its excellent reputation spread, students enrolled from neighboring states as well.

The successful formula provided an all female student body, a highly qualified faculty, a diversity of degree programs (B.A., B.Sc., M.A. and M.Sc.), and the safety of an enclosed modern residential 30-acre campus catering to the needs of day and resident students.

The Next College Session

The college will re-open on 1July 2009 after summer break. Normally classes will meet between 9 AM and 5 PM. Office may open early as determined by the management and the Principal. The Principal and the concerned professor in charge of the activities will announce hours for extra curricular activities and special functions.

Student Attendance

With reference to the order of Rajasthan High Court, a student must attend at least 75% of the lectures delivered and practical exercises held in each subject to qualify for University examination at the end of each year. Students having less than 75% attendance record will not be allowed to appear in the university examination as a regular student. (Note: A medical certificate does not excuse a student from the 75% attendance rule.)

Education and Empowerment

Helena Kaushik Education Foundation believes that higher education is essential for building human capital and leadership capacity in women in their chosen professions and vocations.

Students Advisory Bureau

The college has set up a Students Advisory Bureau. In a situation of a very rapid social change young people require institutional help to lessen their worries about future. The need for educational and personal counseling at the under-graduate level is particularly great, so that waste of human and material scarce resources may be avoided.
